A moment with our creative director, Karin Bochnik

A MOMENT WITH -

We’re excited to bring you a series of short, fun interviews with some of our favourite creatives.
And who better to start with than our very own director?

What’s your design superpower?

Having this ability to understand what clients need from the inside out. I’ve always felt like I'm a bit of a design psychologist and say to my clients that if they survive a renovation or a new build they will most likely be married forever.

If your design style was a painting which famous artwork would it be?

Think of the simplicity and comfort of a Monet garden but with a modern twist! In general, I think my style is a comfortable balance between modern and traditional.

What's your go-to design tip for creating a cozy home?

Less is more!Embrace minimalism and let unique pieces shine. Layer textures or create tonal spaces using one main colour in many different shades.

Describe your creative studio in a few words...

Thoughtfully curated, perfectly placed.

How has your fashion background influenced your interior design style?

It's all about the perfect balance of colours, textures, and unexpected details. And just like Coco said.. always take one thing off.

Which Melbourne artist are you going to collaborate with next?

It's a secret! But let's just say his work has precision but always feels organic which matches my aesthetic to a T.

What's the best destination for design inspiration?

Milan – a city that perfectly blends classic elegance with modern innovation. Everywhere you look there is something to admire.

What's your favourite project to date and why?

South Yarra One – it was all about bringing a boutique hotel vibe to inner-city living, blending simplicity with comfort. But I’m currently working with a developer on a project I’m absolutely frothing over.

How has your recent trip to Japan influenced your design philosophy?

Japan taught me the beauty of comfort through minimalism and purpose. Every element in a space should have a reason to be there, enhancing both functionality and tranquillity.
